Renters Right's Bill - Guidance September 2024
Yesterday, the government issued a lengthy detailed guide to all provisions of the Renters Rights Bill, which is being presented to the House of Commons shortly.
The full details include a list of all the Bill’s measures – namely periodic tenancies and grounds for possession, rent increases, tackling what it calls “the scourge of Section 21”, details of the Private Rented Sector Landlord Ombudsman, the Private Rented Sector Database, outlawing bidding wars, handling rent rises, renting with pets and the Decent Homes Standard and Awaab’s Law.
A government statement says that the summary contains new details on Rent Repayment Orders, not previously released.

It is a lengthy read, so make yourself comfortable.
There is a long way to go yet, and there may well be amendments as it makes its way through the Houses of Parliament, before Royal Assent. Rest assured that I will be monitoring this carefully and will be revisiting protocols, procedures and new agreements in good time so that we are ready for when the Act comes into place.
I would welcome your thoughts on the Bill, and if there are any general concerns that you would like to share at this time, then do please let me know, I am more than happy to discuss this with you, and, if relevant, to add your concerns and questions to Propertymark, who are lobbying very hard with respect to this Bill.
